How to Choose a Kitchen Company in Cyprus: 7 Questions to Ask Before You Commit
Quick Answer: Choosing the wrong kitchen company in Cyprus is a costly mistake. Here are seven questions that separate genuinely capable manufacturers from the rest.
Why Choosing the Right Kitchen Company in Cyprus Matters
A kitchen is one of the largest investments a Cyprus homeowner makes — typically €20,000 to €60,000+ for a quality installation. The company you choose determines the quality of every component, the precision of the installation, and the experience of living with the result for 20+ years.
Yet many buyers focus almost entirely on the showroom experience and the price — and overlook the questions that actually determine whether the kitchen will perform well over its lifetime. Here are the seven questions that separate truly capable kitchen companies from those that will disappoint.
1. Do You Manufacture in Cyprus or Import?
This question matters for three reasons: lead time, after-sales service, and quality control.
A Cyprus-manufactured kitchen gives you faster production (typically 4–8 weeks vs 12–18 weeks for imports), direct access to the manufacturer if there is a warranty issue, and the ability to produce non-standard dimensions without importing a bespoke order from abroad.
At KITWOOD, all cabinetry is manufactured in our Larnaca facility. We also import Doimo Cucine Italian systems for clients who specifically want Italian design — but even these come with our local team's installation and warranty support.
2. Do You Have Your Own Installation Team?
Ask specifically: 'Are your installers employed directly by you, or are they subcontracted?' This distinction matters enormously.
A company that employs its own installation team is accountable for the quality of the installation. If something is wrong, they must fix it. A company that subcontracts installation has divided responsibility — and when something goes wrong, the debate over who is responsible begins.
At KITWOOD, our installation team is employed directly by us. The same team installs kitchens across Larnaca, Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos — every week, to the same standard.
3. Can You Show Me Completed Projects in Cyprus?
A kitchen company with real experience will have a portfolio of completed projects they can share — both photos and ideally references from clients who have had their kitchen for several years.
Look specifically for projects in Cyprus (not international showcase images), projects of a similar scope to yours, and ask how old those installations are. A kitchen that looks beautiful in a showroom photograph may tell a different story 5 years later.
At KITWOOD, we invite prospective clients to visit our Projects page and to ask specifically for references from clients in their city.
4. What Carcass Material Do You Use?
Most kitchen buyers do not think to ask this question — and it is possibly the most important one. The carcass is the hidden internal structure of every cabinet. Most budget and mid-range kitchen companies use particleboard (ДСП). Premium manufacturers use plywood.
The difference in long-term performance — particularly in Cyprus's humid Mediterranean climate — is enormous. Plywood carcasses hold screws, resist moisture swelling, and remain structurally sound for 20–30 years. Particleboard typically shows structural problems within 8–12 years.
Always ask: 'What carcass material do you use, and can I see a sample?'
5. What Hardware Brands Do You Use?
Kitchen hardware — hinges, drawer runners, lift systems — is what you interact with every day. The quality of the hardware directly determines how the kitchen feels to use, and how long it maintains that feeling.
Premium European hardware brands — Blum (Austria) and Hettich (Germany) — are tested to 200,000+ operating cycles and carry a lifetime warranty. Generic hardware from unidentified sources is typically rated for 30,000–50,000 cycles and may degrade noticeably within 5 years.
Always ask: 'Which hardware brands do you specify, and is there a difference depending on which collection I choose?'
6. What Does Your Warranty Cover?
Kitchen warranties in Cyprus vary widely. Ask specifically:
• How many years does the warranty cover?
• Does it cover the full kitchen (carcasses, fronts, hardware) or only certain components?
• Who handles warranty claims — the company directly, or a third party?
• What is the response time for warranty issues?
At KITWOOD, our warranty covers all KITWOOD-manufactured components for the hardware's rated lifespan, and all warranty service is handled directly by our own team — not a third-party call centre.
7. Can I Visit Your Manufacturing Facility?
A kitchen company with nothing to hide will invite you to see where their products are made. A company that deflects this question — or whose 'factory' turns out to be an assembly shed — should make you cautious.
At KITWOOD, we operate our own manufacturing facility in Larnaca, Cyprus. We are proud of our production standards and welcome client visits by appointment — it is one of the most effective ways to understand the quality of what you are investing in.
These seven questions will protect you from the most common mistakes buyers make when choosing a kitchen company in Cyprus. Take them to every showroom you visit.
