The carcass is the hidden structure behind the door — and it is the most important determinant of long-term kitchen integrity.

Particleboard — the most common material in budget and mid-range kitchens — is made from wood particles bonded with formaldehyde resin. It swells dramatically when exposed to moisture and loses structural strength over time.

Plywood — made from cross-laminated wood veneers — is significantly stronger, holds screws firmly over time, and resists moisture swelling far better. A kitchen built with plywood carcasses will feel as solid after 25 years as it did on installation day.

2. Hardware Quality and Specification
